| ABOUT US: |
|
Our organization is located in San Rafael, CA. It was born on the 14th of November 2003 at the heart of the Canal Area, in order to promote non-lucrative objectives from and for the community. One of our main goals as Yucatan immigrants is to keep alive the Mayan Culture that our people have carried with themselves to California.
During its first year, Chan Kahal upheld various cultural events and encouraged community involvement, especially towards the people that needed our moral and financial support the most. After a year of hard work, Chan Kahal obtained one of its biggest ambitions. It purchased an ambulance for a Yucatan town that lacked this very basic need. We feel very proud to be part of the existence of this important necessity, which will probably save hundreds of lives in the future years. That has probably been our biggest accomplishment, which has fortunately set the first stone of a large construction guided to help with the needs of our community.
We need to keep working hard and continue building trust among the people. We hope to maintain our spirit of harmony and keep being part of many people’s lives. It is for sure that there is always needs and emergencies that might need a moral or financial hand at its moment.
Our organization looks forward to keep growing and strengthening its bonds with the San Rafael community. We believe that the Mayan immigrants in Marin can make a difference on our surroundings if we keep building trust and engagement with the community.
